The Television Academy gab die Gewinner der 72. Emmy Verleihung bekannt. Jimmy Kimmel war Gastgeber der Zeremonie, der ersten großen Hollywood-Preisverleihung seit der Coronavirus-Pandemie.
SCHITT'S CREEK sorgte für eine Überraschung. Während die Serie in den vorangegangen fünf Staffeln keinen einzigen Emmy gewann, räumte die Serie mit der letzten sechsten Staffel in der Kategorie Comedy als beste Serie ab, gewann in den Hauptkategorien für die beste schauspielerischen Leistungen in einer Comedyserie und bei den Nebendarstellern in der weiblichen und in der männlichen Kategorie, sowie bei Regie und Drehbuch.
Bei den limitierten Serien räumte WATCHMEN ab, bei den Dramaserien SUCCESSION. Serien wie THE MANDALORIAN, THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL oder HOLLYWOOD haben alle wichtigen Auszeichnungen verpasst. Allen Gewinner sagen wir herzlichen Glückwunsch.
